Sports-Racing Cars of the 50's & Early 60's
The History of the Sports-Racing car is a rich & long one. The Le-Mans 24 hour race being one of the high profile races for this type of car. For a detailed account of All the cars, drivers and race results, there are many sources available on the net ...or the old fashioned way, books & magazines.
Today I wanted to have a bit of fun finding out some performance figures for these old cars.
Some cars may have been tested by the likes of America's 'Road & Track' magazine or occasionally by UK's 'Motor' magazine, but on the whole, we don't get a real idea of what kind of acceleration times they could achieve. Useing 'http://www.torquestats.com' calculator, we can get a fairly accurate guide to their performance times. I've compared many road car stats to the ones calculated & found them to be pretty close to the real times. (usually within .5 of a second either way.) There are so many variables which could make a difference to the calculated times, whatever they may be, the calculator still gives us a good idea of what these cars were capable of. Enjoy!
